Lieutenant General Karl Freiherr von Thüngen (26 June 1893 – 24 October 1944) was a German army officer who was the inspector of the army in Berlin and was executed after the failed July 20 Plot in 1944. He was born in Mainz. After service in World War I he served in the Reichswehr. In World War II he served on the Eastern Front, in 1942 and 1943 with the 18th Panzer Division. On 6 April 1943 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
